STEM Websites

These are approved websites to be using in study hall once all your work is finished.

Khan Academy for Algebra 1

This website is filled with videos and interactive question and answers. It will recap how to do almost all the skills we learn in class!

Benefits:

They might show it differently than we learned in class. This is a great recap for students who were absent.

Limitations

Students might not be able to navigate where to find what we learned in class. If you can't find what you are looking for, email me and I will send you a direct link to the topic you are looking for.

Read about Math

Use this website to read blogs about math. There is one specifically geared for parents and one for students.

Benefits:

Give your brain a mathematical break and read about how to study for math.

Limitations

This website does not teach the topics we are learning in class.

Desmos Graphs

Graph equations!

Benefits:

You can quickly graph and manipulate equations. You can add multiple equations to the same graph to compare them.

Limitations

This takes away the thought process of designing a graph yourself and determining a scale that is appropriate for your equation.

Don't be afraid to play with it too!

Function Machine

Try to guess the pattern for the equation based off given inputs and outputs in a table!

Benefits:

This website has students working backwards from how it's normally done in class

Limitations

This could be difficult for the beginning of the school year.

IXL

Practice your skills!

Benefits:

It can quickly tell if a student knows how to do the skill since the program tells you if you're wrong. If you're wrong it explains why. Remember that mistakes are expected, inspected, respected, and corrected.

Limitations

If you keep getting them wrong it gives you more questions to do. Don't worry about being perfect, strive for a score of 80.

Code Pen

Write your own code!

Benefits:

This helps students see cause and effect depending on what they type.

Limitations

This could be hard if a student has never written code before. The website does not teach you.
