Practice before the Test

Unit Essential Questions:

  • How do I know the best method to solve a problem?

  • How are quadratic functions used to model, analyze and interpret mathematical relationships?

9.1 Graphing Quadratic Equations

Students will be able to...

  • Find the y-intercept

  • Find the axis of symmetry

  • Find the vertex

    • Be able to tell from the equation if the vertex is the maximum or minimum

  • Sketch a graph by using a table or by graphing the y-intercept, axis of symmetry, and vertex.

9.2 Solving Quadratic Equations by Graphing

Students will be able to...

  • Identify the x-intercepts of a quadratic equation

    • You can use the graphing calculator or just factor it if you don't have the graphing calculator.

9.3 Transformations of Quadratic Functions

IXL Practice

- none available

Students will be able to...

  • understand the parts of the graph and what those numbers in the graph do to make the graph look different

  • look at an equation and be able to tell how much it moves up/down from it's parents graph

  • look at an equation and be able to tell how much it moves left/right from it's parents graph

  • look at an equation and be able to tell if it is flipped compared to it's parents graph

  • look at an equation and be able to tell if it's wider or narrower from it's parents graph

9.4 Solving Quadratic Equations by Completing the Square
