Main Ideas

Example 1 is on dividing monomials. This is really the same as what we learned how to do in lesson 5.1. The key here is that you divide the monomial by EVERY term in the polynomial.

In example 2 we talk about dividing a polynomial by a binomial using long division. It is very similar to the long division of numbers learned in elementary school.
